Our Love Story in a Nutshell

Trevor and I have been living together for 2years today so I thought I would give you a sneak peak into our beautiful little love story.  Time to grab the sick bucket!

Our first date, was a few days following Trevor’s 30th birthday.  I set out for Newbury early in the morning and found a somewhat hungover Trevor waiting for me.  We headed out for lunch and Trevor managed all of 2 mouthfuls of food before pushing his plate to the opposite end of the table in an attempt not to throw up.  There was no way I was leaving my food, whether he was feeling sick or not.

We proceeded onto a pub for a few games of pool and a good old catch up whilst I drank lager and Trevor drank lemonade.  Somehow, we managed to have a good time (even if he did beat me at pool) and the day was a big success.  Lionel Ritchie’s ‘Destiny’ played on the radio as we said our goodbyes by the car.  It was adopted as our song.

Trevor came down to me for the first time on my birthday weekend.  I met Trevor at the local DLR station and we walked home.  On the way we had to pass a high-rise block of flats and I pretended that I lived at the top. Trevor refused point blank to go up there and said that he would be going straight home.  Luckily, I was joking and loved his couldn’t-give-a-shit attitude.

Trevor met my family for the first time and everyone got on great over a few drinks and an embarrassing but hilarious birthday cake moment.  That weekend was Trevor’s first to London so we both went off into Town were we visited Namco, the London Eye and Big Ben and then The O2 arena.  We stopped off for some ‘beverages’ along the way and finished the evening watching the sun go down in Greenwich after a ride over the Emirates Cable Cars.

With 100 miles between us, we spent most of the evenings talking on the phone and for some 5 months, we commuted to and from each other at weekends and would have a fab time.  Come Friday, I would be on a massive high knowing that I would be seeing Trevor that evening.  We was completely inseparable and yes, I was hooked.

It was quickly evident that Trevor and I was meant to be, so without hesitation, I quit my City of London job and relocated home to live with Trevor that September, two years ago today and started my new job that Monday.  There have never been arguments between us and we get on brilliantly, even on West Ham vs Man U match days when our teams go head-to-head.

In the November, we travelled to Cornwall for the first time where I met Trevor’s Nan, a typical Cornish lady full of nothing but love for Trevor.  Over a tea and sandwich, Trevor and his Nan had a good old catch-up whilst I sat there and nodded quite a lot.  Trevor had found his native tongue and I couldn’t understand a word they spoke.  Trevor would stop every now and then to update me.  It was that same weekend that I met Stevie Couch aka. A Cornish Mum for the first time too.  Her partner and Trevor have been best friends since school.  Trevor is definitely a proud Cornishman and would move back there in a heartbeat.  I have to admit, it is pretty lovely there and I love being by the coast.

We enjoyed a gorgeous first Christmas together and Trevor even agreed that we would buy a Christmas Tree.  I allowed him to put the star on the top as a thank you.  He wasn’t impressed but in true Trevor form, he ‘sucked-it-up’ to entertain me.  We  even visited Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park which was beautiful.  Trevor usually hates Christmas, so I did my best to change that by buying him a Man U Santa hat.

In March 2014 we travelled to Egypt for what would be an amazing holiday.  We visited the Luxor Tombs and Temples and I witnessed my first shooting star.

In May, I took Trevor on a surprise weekend break to Paris to mark our 1st anniversary together.  Trevor knew that we was going away but had no idea where to.  On our first night in Paris, we had dinner and walked to the Eiffel Tower which wasn’t far from where we was staying.  It was a lovely evening which was made all the more better when I saw a van selling candy floss alongside the Tower.  I made a run for the van, as you do, and as you can see, I was very happy with my purchase.

Little did I know, Trevor had an engagement ring in his pocket and was about to propose to me under the Tower in front of the crowd of people queuing for entry.  Whoops!  We walked along the bridge that you can see in the photo above, whilst I ate my candy floss.  The view you can see is where Trevor was finally able to get down on one knee.

On returning home, I quickly went into wedding mode but any ideas were quickly put on hold when we found out we was expecting our first child.  We was completely over the moon although a little shocked.  In January 2015, we welcomed our baby boy Jack (aka Captain Jack) into the world after a difficult 20hr labour but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Since January, we have had a major crash course in the art of parenting and what a journey it has been, too amazing to put in to words.  We no longer get to cuddle up on the sofa as often as we’d like and when we do we usually have Jack sat alongside us but that’s okay, we love it.

Jack is an absolute dream and his progress has been fab.  He totally completes our little family and his smile is enough to brighten any room.  He is a very happy little boy with the biggest amount of love, his cuddles melt me every time.  Often I sit there and wonder how we created someone so incredible.

Trevor and I are completely chalk and cheese; Trevor keeps us calm and calculated with his laid-back approach and I drive him mental with my frantic, always in a rush, got to be there yesterday typical Londoner approach.  However, we are completely in love still to this day.  Trevor is my total hero and is the perfect dad to Jack, I honestly don’t think I could have coped without him these last few months.  It turns out that parenthood is quite a challenge.

Having Jack and living together so happily confirms what I always thought since the day we met, I cannot wait to marry the arse of the sexy beast and live with him happily ever after.

Happy 2yr ‘living together’ anniversary T-Man – I love you xxx

  1. Aw, what a lovely story. I liked the part about meeting his Nan. It was the same with my husband’s family. I would totally not understand what they would saying so I think that’s how I won them over. They would be thinking, “ah, nice girl, never disagrees. Just smiles and nods!”

Here’s wishing you and your family more years of happiness and love ahead.

      1. No problem. It might be worth having a new twitter handle for your blog which is similar to your blog name. Hope you don’t mind me saying, but I found I got more followers doing that rather than using my personal acct. Have just followed you by the way on Twitter 🙂 xx

    1. It’s funny how we meet our ‘life partners’. Trevor’s chat up line to me was… Don’t be shy, show me your pie! NO JOKE! I bury out laughing and as you say, the rest is history. For the record, he didn’t see my pie that night! 😀 xx
