Review and Competition: Baker Days Letterbox Cake

Imagine my delight when my first review request came from Baker Days, the maker of the Letterbox Cake.

I sent over a photo to Baker Days in order for them to work their magic and create a personalised cake for us.  In return, we were asked for our honest opinions and to run a competition which you can enter below.

A couple of days following, the post arrived as usual.  Amongst the post was a box and inside it our cake.  I couldn’t believe that a cake had actually been through the postal system, dropped through my letterbox and remained completely undamaged.

Inside the box, was an exciting little party waiting to happen; a cake that was packaged securely within a pretty cake tin along with some candles, balloons and a party whistle.

My first impressions on opening the tin was that the cake looked brilliant, I was super happy with it.  Jack’s photo on the cake was really good and it smelt yummy.

Rather conveniently, the day after the cake arrived, it was Jack’s 6-month birthday so the cake had come in good time.

The Letterbox Cake was cut into 4 good-sized portions and enjoyed by the grown-ups.  Jack shared my piece of cake and he certainly seemed to enjoy it.

The cake was filled with a moist and fluffy vanilla sponge and coated in a lovely soft icing – everyone agreed that it was really tasty.  According to Baker Days, their cakes will remain fresh for 14 days but in our house, that wouldn’t be necessary.

Overall, we all decided that the Letterbox Cake idea is completely genius; personal, unique and a fun novelty.  What better way to send birthday or celebratory wishes to a loved one – a cake with meaning?  We would highly recommend Baker Days and will definitely be ordering from them in the future.

  2. Congratulations! Great first review, really enjoyed reading it and what a fantastic idea. That’s definitely an idea that will catch on – it’s just that little bit different isn’t it. Cake looks a good size too – size too, do you mind me asking what price category it comes into?

    Well done!

    1. Its a fab idea and tasted amazing! Ill definitely be ordering one – far better than a greeting card arriving through the post. It is £14.99 for a Letterbox Cake and you’ll easily get 4-5 portions out of it. Its more of a novelty really.
